Coral Restoration and Innovation Continue Across Bali Reefs
Ocean Gardener x ClubOcean®
In September, Ocean Gardener continued coral reef restoration in Lipah Bay, Amed, and Tulamben, Bali. Regular coral planting and the Mineral Accretion Technology pilot showed zero coral mortality, confirming the effectiveness of this innovative restoration method.
Partnerships with local authorities reinforced protection of the Nusa Penida Marine Protected Area, while the Acropora ID course trained participants to support restoration projects and select appropriate coral species for outplanting . Local supporters, including Penida Colada, helped raise awareness and contributed to long-term reef conservation and sustainable practices 🤝💙.

Ganuk and Henry Enjoy Fall While Staying Strong
Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat x ClubOcean®
As fall settles in, Ganuk and Henry have been enjoying the cooler weather and the seasonal changes around their habitat. Henry loves to nap in piles of fallen leaves carefully raked by the animal care team, while Ganuk has been practicing stretching behaviors, reaching for food placed high to keep his muscles strong and joints flexible
At this time of year, both bears are approaching their heaviest weights, with Henry at 1293 lbs (588 kg) and Ganuk at 1238 lbs (563 kg). Their diet includes saltwater fish, small amounts of moose meat, lard, seal oil, and some fruits and vegetables, supporting their health and energy as they prepare for the colder months. 🌿🍂.

Kedonganan Beach Cleanup Protects Bali’s Coastline
R.O.L.E Foundation x ClubOcean®
On September , 2025, The R.O.L.E. Foundation, organized a successful beach cleanup at Kedonganan Beach. A total of 35 participants, including staff, Bali WISE students, and volunteers, joined the effort. In just one hour, the team collected 186.95 kg of waste. The majority was residue (40.7%), followed by glass bottles (26.2%) ♻️.
All collected waste will be managed responsibly by the R.O.L.E. Foundation team: glass bottles, hard and soft plastics, rubber slippers, and aluminum cans will be sent to the Waste Bank, while residue and ghost nets will be transported to landfill. Sacks will be cleaned and reused. This dedicated effort continues to protect Bali’s coastlines and ensure cleaner beaches for both wildlife and the community 🌍✨.

Protecting Sea Turtles: Hatchlings Released and Innovative Rescue
Dekafok x ClubOcean®
In September, DEKAFOK achieved remarkable success in sea turtle conservation. Nearly 700 nests were protected, allowing more than 30,000 hatchlings to safely reach the sea the highest number recorded since 2020.
During World Cleanup Day, activities were extended over three days, resulting in the removal of over 220 large bags of waste from coastal habitats 🌍♻️. These efforts help safeguard nesting beaches while raising awareness about the importance of clean shorelines.
A public awareness run with 100 participants further engaged the community, promoting coastal protection and inspiring people to care for marine life.
In addition, a rescued turtle continues its recovery. Following intensive care, its injured flipper is healing well, with infection resolved and tissues regenerating. Its return to the ocean is approaching 🌊✨.

First Dolphin Sighting of the Year Highlights Ongoing Research
MORIGNEOS x ClubOcean®
In September, Morigenos continued its dedicated dolphin monitoring in the Gulf of Trieste. A highlight of the month was the first sighting of the year of one of the very first dolphins identified in the area, a long-term individual that has been tracked since the beginning of the research.
During the month, Morigenos also published a new study showing that bottlenose dolphins in the northern Adriatic Sea form social groups with distinct diets and feeding strategies. This research reflects the ongoing work of Morigenos to observe, document, and protect dolphin populations, providing crucial data to support effective conservation of marine life 🌊📊

Seabird Rehabilitation and Community Support in September
SANCCOB x ClubOcean®
In September, SANCCOB continued protecting and rehabilitating seabirds along the South African coast. AP432, an African Penguin rescued at Foxy Beach in late July, regained mobility after intensive care and the use of a supportive sock . Release into the wild is approaching. The team also responded to an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), affecting over 600 wild seabirds, by supporting conservation authorities, securing facilities, and establishing quarantine units .
Community engagement remained strong with the Waddle Walk fundraiser on 6 September, raising awareness and funds for seabird conservation . Supporters wrote letters to rehabilitated penguins and seabirds, fostering connection with marine wildlife . Meanwhile, staff research highlighted unusual threats to penguins, such as the rare 2021 bee attack at Boulders Beach , ensuring ongoing monitoring and protection of seabird populations.📚🐧
